Product Description
The AcomData 550 ProDrive has not one but two high performance hard disks inside its striking aluminum enclosure. The built in RAID 0 function combines them into one ultra-fast data storage machine. Data is distributed across both hard disks simultaneously, achieving faster transfer rates and shorter access times. AcomData's hardware-based RAID 0 controller works automatically, behind the scenes. There's no software to install, and unlike the software-based RAID schemes it does not depend on your computer's processor. The result is full capacity, super-charged performance, and no compromises.Similar Products

I bought this product and it failed the first day, can't get to recognized on my computer. Am I to trust this tin can to back up my drive? I don
t think so. Just trying to get some technical help was a nightmare as they were unresponsive to any e-mails and phone calls are put onto extended hold. I highly recommend just putting up more money and buy a known product like Apple or even Dell.

I bought my HD, but I could't install it yet! I dont know how, but when I conect it in my desktop, my i-mac doesn't recognize it. I tried to format in mac way, but always a error happens. I try to contact Acomdata, but I'm still waiting for an answer. I don't know if the HD has a problem. I hope Amazon or Acomdata helps me!

I cannot warn people off of any Acomdata product fast enough. I am trying to do my best though. I bought (2) different hard drives from them to back up my iphoto and itunes. One was fire wire and one was usb. The usb failed about 13 month after I bought it. I called them and asked them to get me another one and remove the information from the failed one. They essentially laughed at me. After a year they completely wash their hands of their customers. The Firewire failed about (20) days ago. I just used it for a timemachine back up. This one did not even last a year. I am going to call them and just let them know how poor their products are. I don't want anything from them. I will replace with a Seagate (had one for 3 years now). Please do not support this company. They make a horrible products.

Good value, lot's of memory for the money. But, noisy fan runs all of the time, even with the computer shut down. AcomData say's that it is suppose to run all the time. My AcomData 360, shut's down with the computer.

So there was a problem when setting it up with 10.5.X. Called customer service, they were friendly and helped me out quickly.
Simple steps to save everyone time (wish it was on their website):
- Disk Utilities
- Select drive
- Select Partition tab
- Set Number of Partitions
- Click on "Options"
- Select "Apple Partition Map"
- "Apply"
- Go back to work!
